SPC, 아르바이트 대학생 장학금 지원 확대

SPC (CEO Hur Young-in) announced on March 23 that it had expanded the size of ‘SPC Happy Scholarship’ by 50% to help more part-time college students relieve the burden of tuition fees and delivered scholarships to a total of 150 students.

SPC Happy Scholarship is a scholarship program that has been operated since 2012, following SPC CEO Hur Young-in’s commitment to providing support for young workers at its stores to develop their dreams.

SPC has provided around 50% of the tuition fees to 200 students (100 students per semester) each year. Recipients are selected based on the length of service, work attitude, family situation, and study plan, etc. among college students working at its affiliated brand stores or partner companies such as Paris Baguette, BR Korea, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Caffe Pascucci, or those recommended by Busrugy, an incorporation association for charity purposes.

The group decided to increase the number of beneficiaries of scholarship support by 50% compared to the previous year to 150 students per semester and 300 students per year, starting this year. Through this program, SPC plans to provide scholarships worth a total of KRW 240 million to 150 part-time college students.

Cha Jin-a, a student working as a part-timer at Dobong store of Paris Baguette, said, “It was not easy to balance work and study, and I am very glad to be selected as a scholarship recipient just in time for my return to school.”

An official from SPC said, “We have decided to increase the scale of the scholarship program to reflect the reality of worsening difficulties caused by economic woes. We will spare no efforts in providing various supports, including scholarships, to help part-time students overcome economic difficulties and continue their studies.”

Meanwhile, SPC Happy Scholarship, which marked its 23rd anniversary this year, has provided scholarship to a total of 2,178 students with a cumulative amount of KRW 3.86 billion.
