The Open Coffee Station (OCS) at SPC’s headquarters in Yang-jae office building, is a space that provides its employees with an opportunity to enjoy various teas and coffees. The Employees can brew their own coffee and can enjoy any brand of coffee that is in use by SPC Group, making it possible for everyone, from a novice to a coffee expert to enjoy coffee. The serving robot delivery service was started for employees that found it hard to visit the OCS store. Should we look into the OCS serving robot, that is bestowing not only new coffee for customers, but also making it convenient for them?

OCS, the coffee culture space of SPC Group

OCS, situated on the first floor of SPC Group’s main office is meant for employees of SPC Group to enjoy coffee and tea. The huge display, in the center of the store, showcases all the 32 flavors of coffees and teas of SPC Group’s brands. Every week, we introduce new flavors of tea and coffee with curation of four flavors of coffee and two flavors of Teatra tea (Teatra Tea is a premium tea brand made by the researchers at SPC Group through the best blend of high-quality raw tea products.). The coffee zone consists of a testing section, where you can try readymade drinks, and a separate barista section, which is equipped with professional equipment for brewing coffee.

OCS’s Automatic serving robot

OCS, which is spearheading the coffee culture of SPC Group, has introduced a coffee delivery service called ‘serving robot’. You do not have to go all the way down to first floor for your coffee, you can place an order from your seat, and the serving robot will deliver your order to the corresponding floor. You can order in bulk, from a minimum of four cups to a maximum of eleven cups, making the serving robot very useful. You can also reserve your order in advance for a meeting through ‘reservation delivery service’.

A tray is set up on the upper body of the serving robot, hence it can move without shaking even when it receives shock from foreign objects. Also, on lower body of the robot, there is plenty space for beverages making it possible to deliver orders in bulk. Serving robot is tailored with a LiDar sensor, equipped with a laser, and a couple of cameras assisting in 360° panoramic object-detection. It avoids colliding with humans and objects, moving only within its designated area. It can call the elevator on its own and move between the floors because it is connected to the elevator system

The word of mouth is that during summers, when you are busy working, it is very convenient to use the serving robot, therefore it is getting increasingly popular among employees. We receive positive reviews like “The robot is amazing and cute. Good to use for meetings.”
SPC Magazine met with Kim Min-jeong, the manager of OCS, and had a talk with her in detail.

As the space which caters to the coffee and tea culture of SPC Group; it is receiving lots of love from the employees, and education programs are being conducted on OCS. Before, it was either inconvenient to go to the first floor for coffee in-between work hours or tedious to move to the office with a lot of coffee cups.
