SPC Group Discusses Investment Opportunities with Malaysia’s International Trade & Industry Minister

 

 

SEOUL, KOREA – On April 2, SPC Group discussed investment opportunities with Malaysia’s Senior Minister cum International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali during his official visit to Korea at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, the company announced on April 4.

 

SPC Group CEO Jae-bok Hwang met with Minister Azmin Ali and the two chief executive officers of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) to provide an overview of the company’s global business and discuss opportunities for investment and cooperation.

 

SPC Group is currently planning to build a Halal-certified global production facility in Malaysia as well as explore various business opportunities, such as exports and sourcing by its subsidiaries, SPC Samlip and SPC GFS.

 

“We are impressed with SPC Group’s extensive business capabilities and its efforts for global expansion,” said Minister Azmin Ali. “I look forward to the company’s future investment and cooperation in Malaysia with our support.”

Currently, SPC Group is actively expanding its business in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and Cambodia, with its regional headquarters based in Singapore. In 2019, the company laid the foundation for its regional expansion by opening four stores – Paris Baguette, Maison de PB, Coffee@Works, and Shake Shack – at the Jewel Changi, the commercial complex connected to Changi International Airport. In September 2019, SPC Group established a joint venture with a local partner in Cambodia and is currently expected to open the first Paris Baguette in the country during the first half of this year.
